Importance : Nagadeepa Puraana Viharaya is an Ancient Buddhist Temple in Sri Lanka. The Lord Buddha visited this site after five years of attaining Enlightenment to settle the dispute between two warring Naga kings, Chulodara and Mahodara over the possession of a gem-studded throne. This throne was later enshrined in the Nagadeepa stupa.
The Kerala government has now come out with some new rules for travel as COVID-19 cases continue to increase at an alarming rate in the nation. • Little Adam’s Peak
Little Adam’s peak / Mini Adam’s peak is the closest and easiest hike in Ella relative to the Ella rock. The entrance is located nearly 5 km from Ella town in Ella-Passara road. From the entrance it will take 30-45 min for the hike. When you reach, it is able to get superior experience through the 360 degrees panoramic views.
The hiking of Ella rock is quite tough. It is a good place for trekkers who are loving for the hiking. For climbing up and down it will take 4 hours. The way is with full of diversity with waterfall, forest and tea plantations. Once you came to the top, it can be experience beautiful and marvelous panoramic views with mist and cloud.
• Nine Arch Bridge
Nine arch bridge is one of great engineering work in 20th century. It is located in Demodara, between Ella and Demodara railway stations. This bridge is almost 100 years old and has been built with blocks of stone and cement without any strengthening iron or concrete. By a 30 min walk from Ella Railway station it can be reach the bridge.
Ravana Water Fall
Ravana water fall is very scenic and beautiful water fall. It is located very close to Ella-Wellawaya main road. It can be reach Ravana fall by a 10 min drive from Ella town.
• Demodara Railway Loop
Demodara loop is a spiral railway which is recognized as one of the attractive civil engineering work in Sri Lanka. Through a 10-15 min drive from Ella, it is able to reach it.
Dambulla Cave Temple is located in Dambulla town in Central Province of Sri Lanka. Dambulla is located 150 km away from the Colombo and approximately it will take 3.5 hours to reach Dambulla Cave Temple from the Colombo.
Dambulla Cave Temple is also known as Rangiri Dambulu Viharaya and Golden Temple of Dambulla. Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.
The history of the temple goes up to the first century of BC. As per the historical records, King Walagamba in Anuradhapura kingdom (1 st century of BC) has converted this cave in to a temple. After that King Nissankamalla in Polonnaruwa (in 1190 AD) has added 70 Buddha statues and king Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe in Kandy kingdom (in 1750 AD) has renovated this temple by applying paintings.
Currently Dambulla Cave Temple is identified as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, Since the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.

Importance / Why you should visit Knuckles – Knuckles forest reserve is one of best tourist attraction in Sri Lanka. It is located in the Northern end of central highlands. Knuckles is a Bio-Diversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. More than 30% of Sri Lanka's endemic trees, shrubs, and herbs can be found in these forest range. The Knuckles forest connect the wet zone and the dry zone of Sri Lanka. It consists dry evergreen forests, montane forests, sub-montane forests, dry and wet grasslands. As well as Knuckles range is a home for various mammals such as spotted deer, giant squirrel, wild boar, barking deer, purple faced leaf monkey and mongoose and higher number of bird species. UNESCO has named Knuckles as a World Heritage Site.
Activities / things can do – Knuckles mountain range is one of best place for trekking. Knuckles is a paradise for the trekkers because various terrains can be experienced such as grasslands, montane forests, dry evergreen forests, mountain peaks, streams and waterfalls. The lot of endemic flora and fauna can be seen in this forest range. Bird watching is one of best activity in Knuckles and in addition to that lot of wild life including mammals, lizard species, reptiles can be observed.
