Health authorities have prohibited sixty families living in and around Puttalam and they are those who have come from Italy and other countries. They have been restricted from going out of their dwellings and even a court warrant has been secured in this connection, Puttalam district secretary Mr. Chandrasiri Bandara said. Health authorities were compelled to secure a court warrant because of the fact that this crowd had not heeded instructions of health authorities and had been travelling here and there.
The district secretary further said that over 600 people who have come down from countries including Italy recently are living in Wennappuwa and the environs and that they have not properly been quarantined as such. Mr. Bandara said that this crowd too have been advised to remain indoors and that if they required dry rations and other requirements, steps would be taken to provide those. He said that grama niladharis have been issued to procure telephone numbers of all these families.
Health authorities say that most members of this crowd coming from Italy living in Wennappuwa and areas around had thrown various parties by inviting those outside their own houses, information was revealed. Health authorities say that they have instructed these people to suspend throwing such parties to temporarily curtail organising them. Information has been revealed that the corona patient detected from an area close to Puttalam has has intimate relationships with four families and special attention has been focused by health authorities on those four families, the Puttalam district secretary mentioned.
